Englewood fire blamed on electrical problems
Saturday, December 30, 2006 ENGLEWOOD – Electrical problems sparked a fire that destroyed a multiple-family dwelling and damaged a nearby home, authorities said Friday. About 55 firefighters from six area fire departments responded shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday to the house fire at 195 John St., but were unable to salvage the three-story home, Fire Chief Robert Moran said. No members of the three families that inhabited the building were injured, although two Englewood firefighters were treated for minor injuries, Moran said. "Everyone was able to get out in time, and they all had some place to stay for the night," he said. An investigation showed the fire was accidental, Moran said. A nearby single-family home suffered some heat damage but was deemed habitable, said Acting Deputy Police Chief Arthur O'Keefe. -- Jason Tsai |
