The Englewood Department of Health and Commerce Bank proudly co-sponsor Family Health Awareness Health Fair

Englewood, NJ, Wednesday August 6, 2008:  

On Saturday, September 20, 2008, Englewood Department of Health and Commerce Bank will sponsor the Fall 2008 Family Health Awareness Fair at the Commerce Bank Parking Lot, corner of Demarest Avenue and Dean Street, from 11:00 AM to 3:00PM.  The rain date will be Sunday, September 21, 2008. We are committed to invest in information, education, public engagement, and community partnership development with a focus on prevention. Our goal is to emphasize the fact that preventing and controlling chronic diseases includes making positive changes in lifestyle, having regular checkups, staying informed and communicating with health care providers.

The event is to promote the physical, mental, spiritual, and social well-being of children and families through partnerships with different communities. Success in meeting our priorities requires forging strong relationships and developing innovative new initiatives focused on needs, gaps, and emerging issues.

Information and resources will be offered in partnership with other community agencies such as the Englewood Fire Department, Englewood Police Department, Englewood Hospital & Medical Center, and others.  Some of the services and activities include blood pressure screenings, cholesterol screenings, glucose screenings, fire safety, child ID kits, and educational materials and community resources on various health topics.

September is Minority Health Month and is sponsored by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services. Minority Health Month aims to increase the public’s awareness of medical conditions and health issues that affect minority groups and to eliminate health disparities in New Jersey.  The theme this year is“A Healthy Community Begins With You.”

The Family Health Awareness Fair is open to the public, and all residents are invited to attend.  Refreshments will be provided and there will be lots of giveaways and materials available.  Feel free to share this information with others.  We hope you will join us and support us in this endeavor.
