Route 4 westbound exit to Grand Avenue northbound closed tonight as bridge project advances in Englewood
Route 4 eastbound lane closures tonight and tomorrow night
(Trenton) – The Route 4 westbound exit to Grand Avenue northbound is scheduled to be closed and detoured tonight as the Jones Road Bridge Replacement Project advances in Englewood, Bergen County. In addition, Route 4 eastbound is scheduled to have overnight right lane closures tonight and tomorrow night.
Route 4 westbound exit to Grand Avenue closure
Beginning at 10 p.m. tonight, Thursday, April 25, until 5 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, April 26, the Route 4 westbound exit to Grand Avenue northbound will be closed and detoured. The Route 4 westbound exit to Grand Avenue southbound will remain open.
In addition, one lane in each direction on Grand Avenue will be closed at the same time. At least one lane will be maintained overnight. From 8 p.m. Friday, April 26 until 6 a.m. Saturday, April 27, one lane on Grand Avenue northbound is scheduled to be closed. The closures are necessary for upgrading the traffic signal at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Van Nostrand Avenue. The following detour will be in place tonight:
Route 4 westbound exit to Grand Avenue detour:
• Motorists on Route 4 westbound wishing to take the exit to Grand Avenue northbound will be directed to take the next exit to Grand Avenue southbound
• Take the ramp to Route 4 eastbound
• Take the next exit for Rockwood Place
• Turn right onto Rockwood Place
• Turn right onto Grand Avenue northbound
Route 4 eastbound lane closures
Beginning at 11 p.m. tonight, Thursday, April 25, until 5:30 a.m. Friday, April 26 and again on Friday night at the same times, the right and center lanes on Route 4 eastbound are scheduled to be closed at the Jones Road overpass for bridge girder work. At least one lane will be maintained on Route 4 eastbound overnight. Motorists are advised to slow down, use caution, and expect delays.
The $20.7 million federally funded project will replace the Jones Road Bridge over Route 4 in Englewood, Bergen County. The new bridge will be about three feet higher to improve under-clearance issues on Route 4. Work is expected to be completed in summer 2025.
