Route 4 lane closures required in both directions this week
as bridge project advances in Englewood, Bergen County
Ramp from Rockwood Place to Route 4 eastbound closed and detoured

(Trenton) – Route 4 is scheduled to have overnight lane closures this week in both directions as the Jones Road Bridge Replacement Project advances in Englewood, Bergen County. In addition, the ramp from Rockwood Place to Route 4 eastbound will be closed and detoured beginning Friday night, July 12.

Tonight, Wednesday, July 10
Beginning at 11 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, July 10, until 6 a.m. Thursday, July 11, the right and center lanes on Route 4 eastbound and the right lane on Route 4 westbound are scheduled to be closed at the Jones Road overpass. The lane closures are necessary to install fencing. At least one lane will be maintained on Route 4 in both directions during construction.

Tomorrow Night, Thursday, July 11
Beginning at 10 p.m. Thursday, July 11, until 5 a.m. Friday, July 12, the left lane on Route 4 eastbound and the left lane on Route 4 westbound are scheduled to be closed at the Jones Road overpass. The lane closure is necessary to install fencing. At least two lanes will be maintained on Route 4 eastbound and at least one lane will be maintained on Route 4 westbound overnight.

Friday Night, July 12
Beginning at 11 p.m. Friday July 12, until 5:30 a.m. Saturday, July 13, the right and center lanes on Route 4 eastbound are scheduled to be closed. The lane closures are necessary to place construction barrier. At least one lane will be maintained overnight.

By 5:30 a.m., Saturday, the center lane on Route 4 eastbound will be reopened, and the right lane will remain closed for approximately three months. The closure is necessary for utility work.

In addition, beginning at 11 p.m. Friday, July 12, the ramp from Rockwood Place to Route 4 eastbound is scheduled to be closed and detoured. The closure is necessary to assist with utility work and improve safety of the work zone on Route 4 eastbound. The following detour is expected to be in place for approximately three months:

Rockwood Place ramp to Route 4 eastbound Detour:
• Motorists on Rockwood Place wishing to take the ramp to Route 4 eastbound will be directed to turn right onto Rock Creek Terrace
• Turn right onto Phelps Avenue/Rock Creek Terrace
• Turn right onto Broad Avenue
• Turn left onto Rockwood Place
• Turn right to take the ramp to Route 4 eastbound

The $20.7 million federally funded project will replace the Jones Road Bridge over Route 4 in Englewood, Bergen County. The new bridge will be approximately three feet higher to improve under-clearance issues on Route 4. Work is expected to be completed in summer 2025.
