Jones Road Bridge over Route 4 closure this week in Englewood, Bergen County
Route 4 westbound ramp to Jones Road northbound also to be closed
(Trenton) – The Jones Road Bridge over Route 4 is scheduled to be closed and detoured on Thursday and Friday as the bridge replacement project advances in Englewood, Bergen County. In addition, the ramp from Route 4 westbound to Jones Road northbound will also be closed. The bridge and ramp closures are necessary to install steel girders.
Beginning at 3 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday, February 20 until 6 a.m. Friday, February 21, and again from 3 p.m. Friday, February 21 until 9 a.m. Saturday, February 22, Jones Road northbound is scheduled to be closed and detoured for the installation of steel girders on the Bridge over Route 4. Jones Road southbound, which was closed in August 2024, will remain closed and detoured. The following detour will be in place this week:

Motorists on Jones Road northbound will be directed to Edgewood Road

Turn left onto Nordhoff Drive

Turn right onto Grandview Terrace

Turn right onto Hillside Avenue

Turn right onto Broad Avenue

Turn right onto Van Nostrand Avenue

Turn left onto Jones Road

In addition, beginning at 3 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday, February 20 until 6 a.m. Friday, February 21, and again from 3 p.m. Friday, February 21 until 9 a.m. Saturday, February 22, the ramp from Route 4 westbound to Jones Road northbound is scheduled to be closed and detoured. The ramps from Jones Road to Route 4 eastbound, Route 4 eastbound to Jones Road, and Jones Road to Route 4 westbound, which were closed in August 2024, will remain closed. The following detour will be in place this week:

Motorists on Route 4 westbound wishing to take the Jones Road exit will be directed to take the ramp to Van Brunt Street/Englewood/Englewood South Industrial Park

Turn right onto West Forest Avenue

Turn right onto South Dean Street

Turn left onto Van Nostrand Avenue

Turn left onto Jones Road
By 6 a.m. Friday, February 21 and again by 9 a.m. Saturday, February 22, Jones Road northbound and the ramp from Route 4 westbound to Jones Road northbound will be reopened. Jones Road southbound will remain closed, as well as the ramps from Jones Road to Route 4 eastbound, Route 4 eastbound to Jones Road, and Jones Road to Route 4 westbound. The bridge and ramp closures are necessary for the demolition and reconstruction of the existing Jones Road bridge deck and structure. These closures are expected to remain in place through spring 2025. Motorists are advised to follow the posted detours or plan an alternate route.
The $20.7 million federally funded project will replace the Jones Road Bridge over Route 4 in Englewood, Bergen County. The new bridge will be approximately three feet higher to improve under-clearance issues on Route 4. Work is expected to be completed in summer 2025.
