September 11, 2010 - City Council Members, key Fire, Police, and Ambulance Corps Members, local clergy, Englewood residents and members of victim’s families gathered to join Mayor Huttle in commemorating the 9th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
The program honored the memories of Michael S. Baksh, Alejandro Castano, Frank Joseph Doyle, Uhuru Gonja Houston, Alva C. Jeffiries-Sanchez, Howard L. Kane, Andrew Jay-Hoon Kim, and Frank Bennett Reisman, the eight Englewood residents who tragically lost their lives in the World Trade Center attacks.
The ceremony, as in previous years, took place on the front lawn of the Englewood Public Library, where there stands a tree and plaque which serve to honor the lives of the eight Englewood residents who lost their lives in the attacks.
“Though the attacks have changed the perspective with which we look at ourselves and others, it should not change the core of who we are and should not limit us as to how we live and enjoy life. Let us never forget those brave individuals, but always remember that they will live on in the hearts and minds of their families, friends and every person they touched in their shortened lives,” the Mayor remarked.
