New Jersey Register Ready

The City of Englewood Police Department Office of Emergency Management, under the command of Deputy Chief Suffern, in conjunction with the Bergen County Police Department Office of Emergency Management, under the command of Lieutenant Razzetti, the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management, and the New Jersey Department of Homeland Security and Preparedness, is encouraging those with special needs who live and work in Englewood to register with New Jersey Register Ready, the Special Needs Registry of New Jersey for Disasters.

What is New Jersey Register Ready?

The purpose of this database is to, in the event of a natural disaster or act of terrorism, provide the City of Englewood Police Department Office of Emergency Management with a list of residents who may need assistance with evacuation and/or relocation. Although this database will not guarantee assistance to you or your loved one during a disaster, it will allow the Police Department Office of Emergency Management to more effectively prioritize the use of resources during an emergency. It will, further, provide the Police Department Office of Emergency Management with an awareness of those with special needs who live and work in the City to help plan better for adverse conditions that may develop in the future. Examples of special needs, for the purpose of this program, include, but are not limited to, those who may have difficulties associated with communication, transportation, maintaining independence, medical and supervision activities. Any other difficulty that may exist associated with an act of daily living, which will limit the ability to evacuate, relocate and/or care for oneself during a disaster, is an automatic grant into the program. While signing up with Register Ready is not a guarantee of individual assistance during an emergency, the information provided will increase the ability of local responders to best utilize available resources that will be stressed during this critical time.

How can I enter information into New Jersey Register Ready?

What will I enter into New Jersey Register Ready?

Although some basic information is required to begin the entry into the Register Ready database, the decision to enter most of the information is left up to you. Remember though, that the more information that is entered, the more the Police Department Office of Emergency Management will know about the individual and his or her needs during a disaster. Examples of information that can be entered includes the basic pedigree data, the type of special needs that exist, emergency contact information and limitations that will arise during an evacuation. Room is provided at the end of the questionnaire to list any other emergency information that may be useful for emergency responders if an evacuation is warranted. Remember also to include good contact information for yourself as the Register Ready entry will need to be validated yearly to ensure its accuracy in the system.

Who can I register into Register Ready?

You can enter yourself into Register Ready along with family members, friends, neighbors or anyone else who may have asked for your help with registering. You will need to have detailed information about the person being registered so be prepared to answer questions regarding the information listed above.
