The Records Bureau is an integral part of the Englewood Police Department, and is under the supervision of the Administrative Division. All documentation for the Department is processed through the Bureau. The Bureau is responsible for all records going into and out of the Department. 

The Bureau processes criminal and non-criminal discovery requests, applications for firearms and municipal licenses, issues temporary accessible parking placards and motor vehicle crash reports, fulfills outside agency records requests, and also handles records-related general inquiries.

MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH REPORTS

Most crash reports are available starting five (5) regular business days after the initial report was made. Accident reports are available via CrashDocs at https://www.crashdocs.org/#/reports?state=NJ&agencyORI=NJ0021500. Insurance companies or other corporate requestors are directed to utilize CrashDocs. A complimentary copy of your report can be furnished either in-person at the Records window, or electronically by emailing a copy of your picture ID and accident information to Accident@englewoodpd.org.

TEMPORARY ACCESSIBLE PARKING PLACARDS

Temporary Accessible Parking Placards are issued to City of Englewood residents who are experiencing   short-term mobility impairments. Temporary placards are valid for six (6) months, with one additional six (6) month renewal allowed. To apply for a temporary placard, you must download and complete the Temporary Placard Application (PDF), or visit the Police Records window to obtain a copy. 

Applicant must:

  1. Have temporary placard application certified by a qualified medical practitioner (Section B).
  2. Sign and date temporary placard application (Section C).
  3. Bring prescription or note (on medical office letterhead), signed by doctor, indicating need for temporary placard.
  4. Submit, in-person, the completed temporary placard application at the Police Records window with a check or money order made payable to NJMVC in the amount of $4.00. You cannot pay by cash or debit/credit card. The application is submitted to the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission.
  5. Bring your valid New Jersey Driver’s License when submitting the application.


FINGERPRINTING

In-state licensing or employment:  Serviced by IdentoGO Centers. Go to www.identogo.com for more information.


Out-of-state licensing and employment:  Available at Englewood PD HQ on Tuesdays from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. No appointment necessary. A $30.00 administrative fee must be paid at time of service through the online portal:

You must provide proof you live or work in the City of Englewood to be eligible for this service. Applicant must bring in fingerprint cards to be used; the police department will not provide fingerprint cards.

RECORDS REQUESTS

Letter of Good Conduct: Good Conduct Letters will not be provided by the Englewood Police Department. If you need a “Good Conduct Letter” or a “Criminal Record” check, you must follow the procedures outlined on the New Jersey State Police website at https://www.njsp.org/criminal-history-records/ by choosing the link that fits your needs.
